Amongst the quiet & calm, is a place to write.

There are places that ask something of you.
And there are places that give something back.

Hunton belongs to the latter.

Set quietly within the Herefordshire countryside, this is a place where thoughts begin to settle and words find their way forward. Not through pressure or routine, but through space. The kind that allows ideas to arrive in their own time.

Mornings unfold slowly here. Light stretches across the fields, coffee warms in your hands, and the day begins without demand. You might write at the table, by the window, or not at all for a while. Walking becomes part of the rhythm. Quiet lanes and nearby stretches of the Offa’s Dyke Path invite space for ideas to loosen, shift, and return differently.

Afternoons lengthen. Books are never far away, whether brought with you or found in nearby Hay-on-Wye, a town shaped by stories and shelves. There is no expectation here beyond being present. No schedule to follow. No outcome required.

And yet, something often shifts.

The Stay

This is not a structured retreat.
There are no workshops, no timetables, no prescribed outcomes. Instead, we offer something quieter. A few days held lightly.
A place to step away from the noise and return to your work with a different kind of attention. For those who write, in any form, this can be enough.

Each spring, the surrounding landscape takes on a quiet energy as writers and readers gather nearby.

Hunton sits just beyond it. Close enough to dip into conversation, readings, and ideas.
Far enough to return to stillness at the end of the day.
